There’s a surprising sector of green transportation growing in popularity today: the e-bike. So you may be wondering what exactly is an e-bike? In the simplest terms, it’s a bicycle with a motor. Some e-bikes only offer assistance while you pedal, but full-throttle propulsion is growing feature e-bikes are now including.

The great news is, with pedal-assist, you can still get a workout even if you have a little boost when you need it most. So if you’re considering a green solution for your commute to work or you want an extra push when you bike up the mountain, check out these options below to find the right e-bike for you that we got to test ourselves!

If you want to travel in throttle-only mode, you’ll max out at 50 miles, but still more than most other e-bikes on the market. The 4-inch fat tires will make your outdoor ride more comfortable, especially if you want to ride on lower tire pressure on uneven terrain. This bike takes visibility safety up a notch by providing both integrated front and rear lights, and a lever-activated brake light which is a great safety feature in case you have to activate the hydraulic brakes on short notice in traffic.
